BMO Financial Group Lime Connect Canada Scholarship & Internship Program for Students with Disabilities

BMO White

The BMO Financial Group/Lime Connect Canada Scholarship and Internship Program for Students with Disabilities is a program designed to attract talented students enrolled full-time in post-secondary education in Canada. Successful applicants will receive a scholarship, compete for a paid summer internship and ultimately land a job at graduation as a Financial Services Manager in BMO Financial Group's Personal and Commercial Banking Group. Comprehensive training, coaching and mentoring will all be provided to set you on the path for success.

The program consists of the following three stages:

Stage 1: A scholarship of $2,500 for one year is awarded to recognize the achievements of students with disabilities who are enrolled in full-time studies at an accredited Canadian post-secondary college or university.

Stage 2: Students awarded scholarships will be eligible to compete for a four-month paid internship as a Financial Services Intern. In this program, interns will be provided with training, coaching and mentoring throughout the four-month period from May to August 2011. No prior experience in the financial services industry is required.

Stage 3: Upon successful completion of the internship, a permanent full-time position as a Financial Services Manager will be offered at graduation.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • A student with a visible or invisible disability (defined as someone who has, or considers themselves to have, a long-term, or recurring, issue that impacts one or more major activities that others may consider to be a daily function); this definition also includes the perception among others that a disability exists. We know that 90% of disabilities on campus are invisible, and candidates with all disabilities are encouraged to apply.
  • Registered in full-time studies at an accredited Canadian post-secondary university or college (a minimum of at least 40 per cent of a full course load)
  • Continuing university studies in the 2011-2012 academic year
  • Canadian resident eligible to legally work in Canada
  • Express an interest in pursuing a career in the financial services industry

How to Apply:

Applicants will apply via The Lime Network and provide the following:

  • Contact, education and experience information
  • Current resume & transcripts
  • Two essays - to help us get to know you better
  • Two recommendation letters from a professor, adviser or supervisor
