We are also pleased to partner with MBA Veterans - the first and only organization dedicated to connecting military veterans educated by the world's top MBA programs with employers across a wide range of industries via their annual MBA Veterans Career Conferences and MBA Veterans Career Network. While military service transforms junior officers and NCO's into highly-skilled leaders and managers, an MBA from a premier university is the most tangible and relevant proof of their ability to adapt to and succeed in a business environment. Lime Connect is excited about attracting, preparing and connecting MBA Veterans who happen to have disabilities with our own corporate partners via The Lime Network.
In the fall of 2008, Lime Connect launched an important partnership with the New York Jets and New York City Department of Education that encourages, and inspires, students with disabilities in the NYC school system to have, and achieve, their dreams. The "Be a Champion" essay contest has celebrated 300 award winners to date, along with their families and teachers. This year, for the first time, students with disabilities submitted individual entries or submitted with a friend who does not have a disability as a highlight of the Department of Education's Inclusion Week.
We are honored to have #49 - Pro Bowl Fullback Tony Richardson - as our Jets player partner. The NFL Players Association presented Tony with the 45th annual Byron "Whizzer" White Award, the Association's highest honor. The award honors the player who demonstrates outstanding service to one's team and community in the spirit of Byron Raymond "Whizzer" White. In addition, the Jets have recently named Tony their 2010 Walter Payton Man of the Year in recognition of the many lives he has positively impacted across the country - the second time he has been honored with the award. When it comes to role models, there are none better.
