Categories: Lime Connect Q & A: Your Questions. Our Answers.
True. Holiday time is a great opportunity to close the books, kick up your feet, relax, enjoy, and reconnect with friends and family. If you are job searching, it is also a great time to build momentum and stand out from the crowd. It is possible that recruiters and organizations will use some of the next few weeks to regroup and plan for the next year as recruiting season speeds up in January. Wouldn't you like to be top of mind while they are planning?
Here are some ideas to maximize this opportunity:
~ RSVP "yes" to holiday parties and gatherings. You never know who you will meet and what opportunity can come from that meeting. Meeting someone at a festive occasion can help you to really connect and be remembered.
~ Send New Year's cards. Target folks you have connected with in different organizations, former collegagues and peers. Don't ask for a job in this letter, but do send your best wishes. Just send it as a nice gesture. It may remind them of who you are and incent them to get back to you. (Do keep your cards non-holiday specific. You never know who does and does not celebrate Christamas. That's another reason that a New Year's card may work better). If you met this person through Lime Connect, you might add "Lime Network member" below your signature.
~ Tweet; use Linked In wisely. With down time, your contacts may be catching up with emails. They may have more time to read tweets and peruse Linked In. So make sure your information is up to date and compelling. Take time to write meaningful Tweets. You might just get noticed this time of the year.
