"The Deaf Guy"; Humor and Demystifying Disability

Have you heard of "The Deaf Guy"? It is a very funny online comic strip written by two deaf cartoonists. Buzzfeed.com magazine wrote about what makes it "so awesome". One thing they mention is how the comic strip the deaf guydemystifies sign language and being deaf, in general. I think this is an approach to be considered by any one with a disability. Demystifying a disability is such a powerful way of removing barriers to understanding and opening the way to true connection with someone. Whether it is through humor, science, metaphor, art or something else, give demystifying a try next time you want to accelerate the shifting of a perception, you want to clear the air or remove the elephant in the room.

I look forward to our webinar this Thursday, to learn ways to demystify dyslexia and other brain processing differences. Join us! It is open to all Lime Network members.
